Sound Diplomacy and the Center for Music Ecosystems lead the “Arts Ecosystem Policy” module at the Global Leaders Institute MBA in Arts Innovation

For the second year, our Chief Strategy Officer Azucena Micó and the Center for Music Ecosystem’s Director of Operations Angharad Cooper have coordinated the “Arts Ecosystem Policy” module at the Global Leaders Institute MBA in Arts Innovation.

The Global Leaders Institute’s MBA in Arts Innovation is co-curated with top North American universities such as McGill University,Harvard University, Duke University, Georgetown University, Stanford Business School and the University of Chicago. The program combines immersive leadership development in international settings with remote classroom training with the aim to prepare music and arts sector professionals to grow dynamic organizations that make a difference in the world.

This year’s Cohort, representing 29 nations across six continents, brings together wide-ranging roles in the arts sector: founders, social entrepreneurs, curators, conservatory leaders, presenters, producers, performers, cultural policymakers, teaching artists, media consultants, instrument makers, professors, and researchers.

The “Arts Ecosystem Policy” module is the culmination of a 12-month program  focused on social entrepreneurship, cultural management, sustainable impact, and community development designed for a global cohort of dynamic arts professionals.

During the module, students learn about creative ecosystems and their governance, the value of culture to cities and regions, how to write a creative ecosystem strategy and best cases from all over the world of cities, institutions and organizations that are leading the way in growing and nurturing sustainable and prosperous arts and cultural ecosystems. Some of the guest speakers this year include: Matt Mandrella (City of Huntsville), Ieva Oxenbury (Center for Music Ecosystems, and independent Global Music Rights and Licensing Consultant), Shain Shapiro PhD (Center for Music Ecosystems, Sound Diplomacy, writer), Jesper Mardahl (Aarhus Music City), Greis Cifuentes Ph.D (Fundación Salvi), and Brian Block, AICP (Austin Night Time Management).
