About the Project
The music scene in East Tennessee is deeply intertwined with its Appalachian heritage, establishing the region as a vital birthplace and long-standing home for American roots music.
Music culture remains vibrant, honoring its deep historical roots while actively fostering a contemporary scene that embraces a variety of modern genres.
Genres such as country, singer/songwriter, and rock are some of the most widely played in the region. The ecosystem is anchored by Knoxville, with its diverse venues, studios, and festivals that support a wide spectrum of musicians.
Our Approach
The project was built upon four key research components:

The sample for creatives and artists was made up of 163 observations (considering complete and partial usable responses). The sample of businesses and organizations was made up of 83 observations (considering complete and partial usable responses). The sample of music fans was made up of 332 observations (considering complete responses).
