Who we are looking for:

We are seeking a driven, dynamic and experienced Head of UK Business Development to join our Senior Management team in a rapidly growing, forward thinking and exciting business. The candidate will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the company’s growth and strategy, heading up the UK Business Development department with responsibility for managing Sound Diplomacy’s business development and ensuring consistent and rapid growth in sales across all channels in the UK market.

The Head of UK Business Development will oversee the day-to-day management of the UK Business Development team, devise strategies to increase revenue and profit for the business and take ownership of all sales functions. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, experience in senior management roles and a proven track record of lead generation and increasing sales as well as a desire to work in a cutting-edge field within music, culture and urban development. The ideal candidate will have an excellent network at a high level and the confidence to engage with a wide range of clients. The candidate will have an interest in the arts, urban planning and/or property development sectors.

Based in our London office, the Head of UK Business Development will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, and work closely with Senior Management, as well as Sound Diplomacy’s Business Development and Project teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Devise and implement the company’s sales strategy and monitor effectiveness.

  • Set revenue targets for the company and set key performance indicators.

  • Generate new leads, convert clients and drive sales with the objective of increasing revenue.

  • Set activity and revenue targets for members of the Business Development department.

  • Motivate the Business Development team to achieve the best results possible and oversee performance management.

  • Identify key areas for improvement in the sales process.

  • Attend weekly meetings with other members of Senior Management.

  • Manage all aspects of recruitment and selection for the Business Development department and work with the Senior Management team on budgets and business plans.

  • Represent Sound Diplomacy at music industry, urban government and property development conferences.

  • Increase yield from existing relationships.

  • Negotiate agreements with clients, ensuring commerciality.

  • Identify potential clients and their needs, as well as key decision makers.

  • Ensure delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals.

  • Implement best practice in sales techniques throughout the Business Development department.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • 5+ years of sales and/or business development experience.

  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and partners.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent.

  • Proactive and confident with an ability to work under pressure.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

  • Self-sufficient, motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Natural leadership qualities with an ability to inspire and motivate performance from a team.

  • Strong commercial outlook and an entrepreneurial approach to business development.

  • Proven track record of achieving sales growth and delivery of results.  

  • Existing network at a high level with which to engage.
